Chicago: In another shooting incident in the United States, at least four people were shot dead on a Chicago-area train on Monday morning (local time), Fox News reported, citing Illinois authorities. The shooting occurred on a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Blue Line train. However, authorities have not disclosed any additional information about the victims. A suspect who was attempting to flee the scene was eventually apprehended by the police, FOX 32 Chicago reported.
Forest Park Police Department deputy chief Chris Chin stated that the weapon that was used by the accused was recovered by the cops.
“A weapon was recovered,” Chin said. “There is no immediate threat. This appears to be an isolated incident on this unfortunate day,” Chin said.
Forest Park Mayor Rory Hoskins said that the Forest Park train station, where the shooting incident took place, has been the subject of an inordinate amount of emergency calls.
“It’s a horrible tragedy that four people are dead on Labor Day weekend. Our police department and our fire department respond to this location probably more than any other location in our jurisdiction,” Hoskins stated.
In an official announcement on Monday, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) didn’t hold back their condemnation of the recent shooting incident. Labelling it as horrifying and outrageous, they confirmed unwavering support to the police’s investigation. The CTA stressed the unthinkable nature of such a brutal act taking place, particularly on public transportation.
The Forest Park Police Department along with other authorities are investigating the matter.
Further investigation is underway.
