9 people, including 5 children, killed in Suriname stabbing attack

Police said the suspect responsible for the deaths was arrested after being wounded.

New Delhi: A man stabbed nine people to death in the South American country of Suriname. Among the dead were five children. The incident occurred in Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname. Police said the suspect responsible for the deaths was arrested after being wounded. Police are questioning him. The motive for the killings is not yet known.

What Did Suriname Police Say?

A police statement said, “Between the night of Saturday, December 27, and the morning of Sunday, December 28, a man… killed four adults and five children with a sharp object. A sixth child and an adult were seriously injured and taken to the hospital.” Paramaribo police had to shoot the suspect, who was wounded in the legs and is hospitalized.
