Kabul, Jun 16: A total of 20 people were reportedly killed and 16 othersinjured in a suicide bombing in Rodat district of Afghanistan on Saturday. As per the local media, the blast rocked a gathering of Afghan security forces, civilians and Taliban in the evening in Nanagarhar region. The explosion happened at an Eid gathering between Taliban and Afghan security forces who were celebrating the ceasefire, Nangarhar spokesman Attaullah Khogyani was quoted as saying by TOLO News. Also Read - MP Woman Axes 8-month-old Son to Death, says 'Baby was a Goat, Sent Him where he Belongs'

Earlier on June 11, the death toll in the suicide bombing incident at the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) in Darulaman, Kabul rose to 13. As per reports, 26 people were injured in the blasts that happened at around 1 p.m. (local time) at the gates of the MRRD. The explosion happened while employees were leaving the building for the day.
The bombings came in the wake of the Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani’s ceasefire initiative with the Taliban, starting from the 27th day of Ramadan (June 12) to the fifth day of Eid-ul-Fitr (June 19).
In response to Ghani’s announcement, the Taliban had on Saturday declared a three-day ceasefire over the Eid holiday.
