New Delhi: America has granted Israel the right to take action against Iran and its proxy organizations. This means that now Israel can attack Iran or its proxies without asking the United States. President Donald Trump, who ordered the killing of Iran’s Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani in 2020, has now given that order to Israel, something no American president has dared to do until now.
President Trump has said that “from now on every bullet fired by the Houthis will be considered as fired from Iranian weapons and leadership.” His order further states that “Iran will be held responsible for this and will have to face the consequences, which will be very terrible!” Donald Trump’s order is extremely dangerous as it could ignite a war between Israel and Iran, a conflict that everyone has so far sought to avoid.
The threat of war with Israel has been looming since 1979 when the Islamic Revolution occurred in Iran. Since 1988, when President Ronald Reagan ordered the American Navy to sink Iranian vessels firing on Kuwaiti oil tankers, the U.S. has not responded to Iranian attacks aimed at American targets. From the kidnapping of American sailors in the Persian Gulf to the killing of U.S. soldiers in Iraq, the list of Iranian attacks against America is quite long, but the U.S. has never taken direct action.
However, now Donald Trump has ordered action. In 2023-24, Iran-backed proxy organizations carried out nearly 180 rocket and drone attacks on American installations in Syria and Iraq, resulting in dozens of casualties. Despite this severe aggression, the Biden administration refused to authorize a single shot against Iran.

Iran understands that no matter what it or its proxies do, America cannot attack it. In such a situation, it will be extremely difficult for Israel to consider an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Even in 2024, when Israel launched a retaliatory strike against Iranian attacks, it still wanted to strike Iran’s nuclear sites but was unable to do so due to not receiving permission from America.
There are fears that Israel may launch severe attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
