Apart from the rebels, open-source flight trackers have made a startling revelation. According to them, the last plane to leave Damascus was an Illyushin-76 aircraft, flight number Syrian Air 9218. The open-source flight trackers say that this aircraft was likely to be carrying Assad.
Flight number Syrian Air 9218 took off shortly before rebels seized control of the airport. The plane flew east, then deviated towards north, after that, its signals vanished from radars as it circled over Homs.
Rebels who fought against the Syrian leader stormed the presidential palace in Damascus and looted his belongings the videos of which are going viral on social media. The videos also show the rebels inside the presidential palace and on the streets celebrating the victory.
Bashar al-Assad has reportedly left Syria after a 24-year reign
Rebels claim that Assad fled Damascus after the rebels entered the city. Since then, there is no news about Assad nor did he make any statement.
Now they are searching for Assad’s location as mystery deepens over the rumours of his plane being crashed as social media is thronged with several theories mostly indicating that Assad’s planes has crashed.
“Sudden Disappearance and Altitude Change Suggests It Was Shot Down!! Unconfirmed information is being circulated about the sudden descent of the plane that was reportedly carrying Assad after it disappeared from radar and dropped suddenly from an altitude of over 3,650 meters to 1,070 meters in a few minutes, just outside Lebanese airspace north of Akkar. 3D flight radar data of the plane suspected of carrying Bashar al-Assad indicates that it crashed. The Syrian Air IL-76 aircraft’s altitude dropped suddenly, and it seems it was shot down.”.
NOTE: No, former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was not on the plane that lost 6,700 meters in seconds. The video shown here shows a plane fragment engulfed in a huge fire, but it does not involve the former president.
Some unverified videos showed a plane crashing and exploding in a ball of fire.
