BIG twist in Russia-Ukraine war? Trump warns Putin, says... refusing ceasefire 'would be devastating for Russia
US President Donald Trump warned his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, of ‘devastating’ sanctions if Moscow refused a deal on a ceasefire in the Ukraine war – an offer which Volodymyr Zelenskyy has agreed upon.
Speaking after a meeting with Ireland Prime Minister Micheal Martin at the White House, Trump said that US negotiators are headed to Russia “right now” for talks on a possible ceasefire with Ukraine, a day after Kyiv agreed to a 30-day truce. He, however, did not give details.
“We could do things very bad for Russia. It would be devastating for Russia. But I don’t want to do that because I want to see peace, and we’re getting close to maybe getting something done,” Trump said and added, “People are going to Russia right now as we speak. And hopefully, we can get a ceasefire from Russia. And if we do, I think that would be 80 percent of the way to getting this horrible bloodbath finished.”

The European Union (EU) welcomed Ukraine’s decision to agree to a 30-day ceasefire with Russia, an outcome that emerged following talks between American and Ukrainian negotiators in Saudi Arabia.
The 27-nation EU said it is ready to play its “full part” in supporting the upcoming steps, together with Ukraine, the U, and other partners.
It is not yet clear whether Russia will accept the proposal with the Kremlin saying it is waiting for a briefing by the US on the outcome of its talks with Ukraine in Jeddah on Tuesday.
The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said the bloc “welcomes the joint statement by Ukraine and the US following their meeting in Saudi Arabia, including the proposals for a ceasefire agreement”.
