The US Secret Service on Wednesday intercepted suspect packages, identified as potential explosive devices, sent to the homes of former president Barack Obama and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton. “The packages were immediately identified during routine mail screening procedures as potential explosive devices and were appropriately handled as such,” the Secret Service said in a statement.

The device was discovered early Wednesday morning at the Clinton’s home. The Clintons have been living in Chappaqua, about 30 miles north of New York City, since 2001 when former President Clinton left office.

Police in New Castle, reportedly said that they assisted the FBI, Secret Service and Westchester County authorities in “the investigation of a suspicious package.”

Briefing the media, New York Police Commissioner James P O’Neill said, “NYPD and our law enforcement partners responded to reports of a suspicious package at CNN. Officers identified the device that appeared to be a live explosive device. NYPD bomb squad secured the device and removed it for investigation.”

He added that the explosive device sent to CNN’s headquarters appeared to be sent by the same person who mailed pipe bombs to George Soros, Hillary Clinton and former President Barack Obama.
