New York: The office of Cable News Network (CNN) in Time Warner Center building in New York was evacuated after a suspicious package was found at the office premises. New York Police Department (NYPD) is currently investigating the suspicious package found in the building.
The report of CNN office being evacuated came minutes after two packages containing “potential explosive devices” were sent to US former First Lady Hillary Clinton in New York and former President Barack Obama in Washington.
Neither Clinton nor Obama received the packages or were at risk of receiving them, the agency said, adding that they were discovered during “routine mail screening procedures.” The package sent to Hillary was found in the vicinity of her residence in Chappaqua.
“The packages were immediately identified during routine mail screening procedures as potential explosive devices and were appropriately handled as such,” the Secret Service said in a statement.
Condemning the attempt of an attack on Hillary and Obama, the White House said, “These terrorizing acts are despicable.” Earlier this week, a suspicious package targeting billionaire investor and major Democratic donor George Soros was discovered. It is suspected that all the packages were sent by the same man.
