New Delhi: Carrie Symonds, the 32-year-old fiancee of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is self-isolating ‘separately’ and not with the Prime Minister, who on Friday revealed that he had tested positive for coronavirus, The Independent has reported. In a statement to the paper, Downing Street said that Johnson’s circumstance was such that he was required to self-isolate for seven days, adding that he would be isolating himself at 11, Downing Street. His partner, Downing Street said, was staying ‘elsewhere.’
This is in accordance with a guidance issued by the Public Health England (PHE) that pregnant women should avoid contact with anyone who is displaying symptoms of COVID-19. Symonds, notably, is pregnant with the couple’s first child and is due to give birth in early summer.
Earlier, Johnson had announced on his Twitter account on Friday that he had tested positive for coronavirus.
Along with him, Health Secretary Matt Hancock, too, has tested positive for the infection.
Before the two, Prince Charles, the first-in-line to the British throne, was also confirmed to have contracted the infection.
