New Delhi: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the UK rose to 820 after a newborn reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 in London. The newborn–the global pandemics’ youngest confirmed case was thought to have been tested within minutes of being born. Meanwhile, doctors are trying to establish how the baby caught the infection – either through the womb or during birth. Earlier, the child’s mother was rushed to the North Middlesex Hospital in the borough of Enfield with suspected pneumonia. It is thought that she only learned of her diagnosis right after giving birth. The mother was now being treated at a specialist facility while her child has been admitted in another hospital. In the day, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson held another emergency meeting at 10 Downing Street in London to discuss further steps within the government’s current ‘delay’ strategy to manage the peak of the cases further down during warmer months. A total of 11 people have lost their lives as a result of COVID-19 in the UK.
