New Delhi: As the worldwide death toll due to novel coronavirus pandemic has gone beyond 30,000 and number of positive cases over six lakh, one positive piece of news that has emerged is that Sophie Trudeau Gregoire, wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, has recovered from the infection. Notably, the Canadian First Lady had, earlier this month, tested positive for coronavirus, thus becoming one of the first high-profile COVID-19 cases in the world. The entire family, including Sophie, PM Trudeau and their three children, went into self-isolation after she was confirmed to have contracted the virus. In a statement, she said that she was feeling so much better, adding that she he had received the clearance from her doctor and Ottawa Public Health.
“We’re all in this together. We’ve reached here together and together we will go through it and reach the other end and the other steps that are awaiting us as a nation, as a country, as a society and as a world,” she added.
She further said, “To everyone who reached out to me with their well wishes, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I also send all my love to all those who are suffering right now.”
Justin Trudeau, however, has continued to work even while in self-isolation, to ‘set an example for Canadians who are being asked to stay at home.”
Canada has thus far reported 5,655 positive cases of coronavirus, including 60 deaths.
