India during Operation Sindoor destroyed many terrorist hideouts of Pakistan along with damaging several airbases of Pakistan. However, there is another side to the picture. It seems as if Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir have hit the jackpot. Let’s find out how.

US considers Pakistan-India and Modi-Shehbaz equal

For the last decade, Pakistan was getting isolated in the world. There was a time when whenever the American President visited India, it was necessary for him to visit Pakistan. But Pakistan got so isolated in world politics. India was now competing with China. But the way Trump has made statements after taking credit for the ceasefire, the Pakistanis will be very happy. During this, Trump praised the leaders of both the countries, Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif, and called them powerful, strong and smart leaders. Trump once again said on May 13, 2025 at an investment forum in Saudi Arabia that Modi and Sharif are very powerful leaders, very strong leaders, good leaders, smart leaders. By weighing both the countries on the same scale, US President Trump has embarrassed himself.

A few days ago, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had claimed that Pakistan has used the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor to bring the Kashmir issue to the international stage. Apparently, it seems he is correct. US offered mediation on the Kashmir issue, which Pakistan has tried to cash in on in its favour. However, PM Modi has refused any kind of mediation. Not only this, he has even said that India will now talk to Pakistan only on PoK and terrorism.

Took bailout package from IMF in the middle of the war

Operation Sindoor dealt a blow to Pakistan’s economy, with the Karachi Stock Exchange falling 6400 points and losing $2.85 billion. A post on X claimed that Pakistan’s economy was losing $3.2 million per day. Pakistani leaders used this crisis to seek help from the IMF and the World Bank. On 9 May 2025, the IMF approved a $2.4 billion package for Pakistan, which included $1 billion from the existing Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and $1.4 billion from the new Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF). This package was to address Pakistan’s economic stability and climate challenges.

Promotion of internal political unity and nationalism

After Operation Sindoor, Pakistani leaders, especially Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Information Minister Ataullah Tarar, called the Indian attacks an attack on sovereignty. Shehbaz Sharif said, the entire people of Pakistan stand with the army. The army and political parties in Pakistan are using the anti-India wind to stir up nationalist sentiments. This is also being used to reduce internal political instability such as tension between Imran Khan’s supporters and the government.
