New Delhi: The Muhammad Yunus–led Bangladesh government failed miserably to rein in jihadi elements, who have been carrying out a series of violent attacks on the Hindu community. After Dipu Das and Amrit Mondal, a bloodthirsty mob attacked another Hindu man, Khokon Das. The 50-year-old Das was injured in the attack, after which the mob burned him alive. According to the reports, the incident took place on December 31 in the Shariatpur district of the country.
On December 31, 2025, Khokon Das, owner of a small medicine store in Tiloi village under Kanoir union in Shariatpur district was attacked by a group of jihadists, who first severely injured him with sharp weapons and later set his body on fire.
It is important to note that this is the fourth attack on Hindus in Bangladesh. To recall, on Monday, a Hindu youth named Bejendra Biswas was shot by his colleague. On December 24, another 29-year-old man Amrit Mondal, was allegedly beaten to death by a mob in the Husaindanga area of Kalimohar Union in Bangladesh.
The Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind on Tuesday condemned the lynching of a Hindu man on charges of blasphemy in Bangladesh, terming it the “height of cruelty” and demanding strict punishment for the perpetrators.
In a statement, Jamiat chief Maulana Arshad Madani said such incidents not only go against the teachings of Islam but also defame the religion.
The Hindu man, Dipu Chandra Das (27), was lynched by a mob and his body set on fire over alleged blasphemy in Baluka in Bangladesh’s Mymensingh district earlier this month. About 12 people have been arrested so far in connection with the lynching.
