What would the world be like if humans could live for 150 years? A ‘hot mic’ conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping in the Chinese capital Beijing on Wednesday turned this imagination into reality. Both leaders were discussing organ transplantation and the possibility of humans living for 150 years. They were talking about becoming immortal.
In fact, during the grand military parade organized on the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, when Putin and Xi were walking shoulder to shoulder, the camera and mic captured their private conversation. During this time, North Korea’s Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un was also present with them. However, US President Donald Trump will definitely get tensed after hearing about their immortality. This live stream of China’s state broadcaster CCTV was watched online nearly 1.9 billion times and more than 40 crore people watched it on TV. The longer you live, the younger you feel. Even immortality can be achieved.’
What did Xi Jinping say?
In response, Xi Jinping’s voice was heard standing outside the camera. He said, ‘Some people estimate that in this century a human can live up to 150 years.’ Kim Jong Un was looking at the two leaders smiling, but it could not be clear whether this conversation was translated to him or not. Putin’s Russian language is not clearly heard in the CCTV clip. Putin later confirmed in a conversation with journalists in China that he and Xi had discussed long life and organ transplantation.
Putin said, ‘I think the chairman (Xi Jinping) talked about this when we were going to the parade. Modern medical and surgical methods, such as organ transplantation, give a person the hope that active life will go on in a completely different way from today.’ China’s Foreign Ministry and CCTV did not respond to this issue. In the video, as soon as Xi Jinping starts speaking, the camera moves to a wide shot of Tiananmen Square and the audio slows down. About 30 seconds later, the camera again shows Putin, Xi and Kim walking towards the stage.
