New Delhi, October 9: Is US President Donald Trump preparing to declare war on North Korea? His latest tweet suggests that Trump is indeed planning something big as he believes that America’s 25-year-old policy concerning North Korea has yielded no result.
“Our country has been unsuccessfully dealing with North Korea for 25 years, giving billions of dollars & getting nothing. The policy didn’t work!” Trump said.
A day before Trump had voiced similar concerns.
“Presidents and their administrations have been talking to North Korea for 25 years, agreements made and massive amounts of money paid. hasn’t worked, agreements violated before the ink was dry, makings fools of US negotiators. Sorry, but only one thing will work!”
The US President, however, didn’t elaborate his remark and left it unclear what he actually meant by “giving billions of dollars”, “only one thing will work”.
Last month, Donald Trump had warned North Korea of “total destruction” if its leader Kim Jong-Un, whom he mockingly described as “Rocket Man”, continued with his provocative behaviour.
North Korea fired a missile over Japan in September and tested a hydrogen bomb, prompting Trump to insist that “all options were on the table” in an implied threat of pre-emptive military action.
In his maiden address to the UN General Assembly, Trump said no nation on Earth has an interest in seeing “this band of criminals” arm itself with nuclear weapons and missiles.
“The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea. ‘Rocket Man’ is on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime,” Trump said.
“The United States is ready, willing and able. But hopefully, this will not be necessary. That’s what the United Nations is all about. That’s what the United Nations is for. Let’s see how they do,” he added.
“It is time for North Korea to realise that the denuclearisation is its only acceptable future,” Trump asserted.
