New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has again claimed that he stopped the war between India and Pakistan that took place in the month of May. The US president also said that eight aircraft were shot down during the conflict. In fact, Donald Trump reiterated his claim about stopping the war while speaking at the America Business Forum in Miami yesterday. He said that he had threatened both India and Pakistan with the cancellation of trade agreements. However, India has already made it clear that no third party mediated between the two countries.

Trump said that since taking office, he has helped end eight wars across the world. Among those, he included the India-Pakistan conflict that took place in May, as well as conflicts between Kosovo and Serbia, and between Congo and Rwanda.

What Trump said

Donald Trump stated, “I was negotiating a trade deal with India and Pakistan when I heard that the two countries were about to go to war. During their conflict, seven planes were shot down and an eighth was badly damaged — actually, eight planes were shot down.”

Trump said he told both nations, “Until you agree to peace, I will not sign any trade deal with you.” According to him, the two countries responded that trade had nothing to do with their war. “But I told them it has everything to do with it. You are both nuclear powers. I’m not trading with you if you’re at war.”
