Iran and the United States have reportedly received a plan to end hostilities that could come into effect on Monday and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
New Delhi: In a major development, Iran and the United States have reportedly received a plan to end hostilities that could come into effect on Monday and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a source aware of the proposals told news agency Reuters. The report further added that a framework to end hostilities has been put together by Pakistan and exchanged with Iran and the US overnight.
According to a Reuters report, quoting a senior Iranian official, Tehran has received the ceasefire proposal sent by Pakistan and is reviewing it. However, the official made it clear that Iran will not reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for a 'temporary ceasefire'.
Death Toll Rises:
Since the war began in Iran, more than 1,900 people have been killed, but its government has not updated the toll for days. In Lebanon, which Israel has invaded by ground, more than 1,400 people have been killed and more than 1 million people have been displaced. Eleven Israeli soldiers have died there while targeting Iranian-backed Hezbollah militants.
In Gulf Arab states and the occupied West Bank, more than two dozen people have died, while 19 have been reported dead in Israel and 13 US service members have been killed.
Brent crude tops USD 110-mark
On Monday, the Crude oil prices opened higher, with US benchmark West Texas Intermediate up 1.86 percent to USD 113.62 a barrel. North Sea Brent crude was also higher at the week's market opening, climbing 1.16 percent to USD 110.30 a barrel.
This comes after Trump went all out with cuss words against Iran, saying "Tuesday will be Power Plant Day", and reverting to his original warning of attacks on energy infrastructure.
