Riyadh, Jun 14: Search for ‘Eid 2018 Date’ has been on the rise since Ramadan month entered its final phase. The sighting of the moon on Chand Raat, which is this evening, will determine the date for Eid or Eid-ul-Fitr celebration in Saudi Arabia. Muslims in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will keep an eye out for the crescent moon this evening to determine the start Eid 2018 celebration. The sighting of the moon this evening will mark the end of Ramadan and beginning of Shawwal month.

Eid 2018 Date: In Saudi Arabia, Eid will be observed either on June 15 or June 16. In Islamic calendar, which follows the lunar cycle, a new month starts with the sighting of the moon on 29th of every month. If the moon is not sighted on 29th, that month completes 30 days. Therefore, if the moon is sighted this evening, Eid will be tomorrow on June 15 in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries. If not sighted, Ramadan month will complete 30 days and Muslims will celebrate Eid on June 16.

According to a senior Saudi meteorologist, Ramadan is expected to last this year for 29 days, meaning the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday will be celebrated on June 15. Abulaziz Al Husseini said that this astronomical calculation is on condition of atmospheric clarity on the day of the moon sighting for Eid, as reported by Alarbiya. The final confirmation on whether Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated in KSA on June 15 would be made by the Saudi Grand Mosque in Mecca.
