Eid 2025 crescent moon sighting: Muslims worldwide are waiting with bated breath for any news confirming the sighting of the Eid Crescent.
Bangladesh has officially declared Monday, March 31, as the day of Eid-ul-Fitr 2025, Malaysia too has officially declared Monday, March 31, as the day of Eid-ul-Fitr 2025, while Brunei too has officially confirmed that Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated on Monday, March 31.
In Saudi Arabia, more than 20 observatories are trying to spot the Shawwal crescent/Eid moon. Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court’s Crescent Committee will deliberate on potential leads from observatories.
In Australia, the Grand Mufti and the Australian Fatwa Council have announced that the month of Ramadan 2025 will complete 30 days on Sunday, March 30 and Monday, March 31, 2025, will be the first day of Eid Al Fitr in Australia, based on astronomical data and moon sighting conditions for Shawwal 1446 AH.
International Astronomy Centre has confirmed that the Shawwal moon/Eid moon was not sighted across the Arab and Islamic world on March 29. The moon will reportedly set before the sun and conjunction will occur after sunset hence, Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 moon sighting on that evening will not be feasible, reports HT.
As a result, Ramadan 2025 is anticipated to complete 30 days, with Sunday, March 30, marking the last day of the holy month while Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 is expected to fall on Monday, March 31. However, in countries where the conjunction occurs before sunset, those regions may opt to declare Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday, March 30, based on traditional moon-sighting practices, adds the report.
