Europe in tension because of this Russian war missile, its name is…., it is capable of…

Amid the ongoing war with Ukraine, Russia has heightened tensions in Europe as it has reportedly initiated the mass production of its latest ballistic missile, the Iskander-1000, which military experts describe as a “game changer.” This is not just an enhancement of Russia’s firepower; the development also marks a strategic shift that could place large areas of Europe within Russia’s reach, compelling NATO and its allies to reassess their missile defense strategies swiftly. Talking about the Iskander-1000, the new version of the Iskander-M ballistic missile has undergone significant upgrades. The missile is now capable of hitting targets up to 1,000 km away, doubling the range of its earlier versions.

According to sources, the ballistic missile is loaded with a new efficient engine its fuel capacity has been increased by 15 percent.

It is worth noting that Iskander-1000 made its appearance in May last year through a video that was released during the 78th-anniversary celebration of the Kapustin Yar missile testing site. One major upgrade that differs Iskander-1000 from its predecessor is the missile’s enhanced rocket engine which is based on modern technologies and a new fuel mixture. This upgrade gives it higher speeds and extended range.
To make the ballistic missile intercept-proof, Russia has equipped it with advanced countermeasure systems, including both passive and active decoys. These decoys are specifically designed to puzzle the enemy interceptor missiles.

The Iskander-1000 will be equipped with an advanced guidance system that integrates an autonomous Inertial Navigation System with satellite corrections and may also utilize radar guidance in the final flight phase to achieve high accuracy. Additionally, it incorporates Terrain Contour Matching (TERCOM) technology, which improves its precision, resulting in a Circular Error Probable (CEP) of no more than 16 feet (4.88 meters).
As per defence experts, Iskander-1000 showcases a major strategic shift in Moscow’s missile capabilities.

If fully deployed, the Russian ballistic missile could alter the strategic landscape. The development could also force NATO to strategise its missile defence posture across Europe.
NATO may need to move its air defense systems, like the Patriot or SAMP/T, to positions farther from Russia’s borders or explore the development of new air defense technologies to address this growing threat. Analysts indicate that the Iskander-1000 could be utilized to strike important targets, such as airbases with F-16 fighter jets in Ukraine or other key sites throughout Europe.
Notably, Moscow can deploy Iskander-1000 in Kaliningrad Oblast, a Russian exclave bordering NATO members Poland and Lithuania.
Deploying that war weapon in Kaliningrad would give Russia the capability to threaten large portions of Central and Eastern Europe.
“This move would serve as a stark warning from Russia, signaling its ability to strike virtually any location in Europe while counterbalancing NATO’s missile defence systems in Poland and the Baltic states,” the defence expert said.
Another possible deployment could be Russia’s border with Ukraine, specifically at Crimea and eastern Ukrainian territories currently under Russian control.
The Iskander-1000, shrouded in mystery, is an enigmatic missile system that has garnered attention due to satellite images and leaked information suggesting its significant capabilities. As anticipation builds for more concrete information, it is clear that the Iskander-1000 represents more than a typical weapon; it has the potential to dramatically alter the landscape of regional security. This development could force Europe, the United States, and their allies to reassess their missile defence strategies in response to a new and formidable challenge.
