Aero India is a crucial platform that drives forward the government’s vision of a strong, capable, secure and self-reliant India. Organised in a total area of over 42,000 sq meters and with the confirmed participation of over 900 exhibitors, including 150 foreign companies, the event is set to be the biggest-ever Aero India to date. As per news agency ANI report, the 15th Aero India started on February 10 and will conclude on February 14. February 10th to 12th have been reserved as business days, with the 13th and 14th set as public days for people to witness the show.
Russia is one of the largest participants at Aero India, presenting over 500 defense products. The Russian defense industry has offered these weapons for potential purchase by India. The list features the Su-57 fighter jet, fighter jet engines, and various types of missiles.
As per a Navbharat Times Hindi report, Russia has offered India a wide range of defense equipment for purchase, including the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter jet and the IL-78MK-90A aerial refueler. According to the Navbharat Times report, Russia has debuted its fifth-generation Sukhoi Su-57 fighter jet at Aero India 2025 for the first time. The aircraft demonstrated its capabilities during the airshow. Along with offering it for purchase, Russia has also proposed a joint production partnership with India.
Russia has extended an offer to India for the Ilyushin IL-78MK-90A aerial refueler aircraft. Currently, India faces a shortage of such refueling planes. Besides aerial refueling, the aircraft can serve as a transport plane, capable of carrying cargo, vehicles, and paratroopers.
The Pantsir-S1 is an automated, medium-range surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft defense system. It consists of three key components: a missile launcher, a radar vehicle, and a command post. The missiles within the system can target distances ranging from 1,200 to 30,000 meters, while its gun has an operational range of 200 to 4,000 meters.
The Kh-69 is a Russian subsonic air-launched cruise missile, derived from the Kh-59 model. It boasts a range of 400 kilometers and is known for its ability to bypass enemy radar systems. The missile was officially inducted into the Russian Air Force in 2023.
