The FBI has released two photos of a “person of interest” in connection with the shooting of Charlie Kirk, urging the public to come forward with any information. The images show an individual wearing a cap, sunglasses, and a long-sleeved black shirt.
Charlie Kirk’s shooter, jumped off a roof and fled after firing the fatal shot. A high-powered, bolt-action rifle was recovered from the area where the suspected Kirk shooter fled, the FBI said.
Utah DPS Commissioner Beau Mason said that the suspect “appears to be of college age”. He also added that the police have images of the suspect and they are confident in their abilities to track that individual.
FBI special agent Robert Bohls announced that the rifle was found in a “wooded area” where the shooter had fled and stated that the weapon will be further analysed by the FBI laboratory. He further stated that a “footwear impression” and “a forearm imprint” have also been found which are also in the process of being studied, per BBC.

How Was Charlie Kirk Killed?
Kirk was killed with a gunshot from a rooftop at the Utah Valley University campus, where he was speaking on Wednesday, authorities said. Federal, state and local authorities were working what they called “multiple active crime scenes.” As the search stretched into a second day, they provided little information about the shooter’s identity, motive, location or evidence and were reviewing grainy security videos of a mysterious person in dark clothing.
In one clip, Kirk appeared to fall back as blood came from his neck. He was sitting under a tent with the slogan “The American Comeback” when the incident happened, as per The New York Times.
In a post on X, FBI Director Kash Patel said, “We are closely monitoring reports of the tragic shooting involving Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. Our thoughts are with Charlie, his loved ones, and everyone affected. Agents will be on the scene quickly and the FBI stands in full support of the ongoing response and investigation.”
