Sao Paulo: At least eight people were killed at a Brazil school on Wednesday. As per reports, two young people were seen entering the building and firing early morning today. Among the dead, there were five children, one adult and two adolescent shooters. Nearly 10 other people were wounded as well.

According to an unidentified witness, a person was seen shooting a gun outside the school and then entering just as classes began. Police also said that the hooded gunmen killed themselves after the attack.

The school has some 1,000 primary and secondary students, aged between six and 18.

Last year, a teenager opened fire at a school in southeastern Brazil, leaving two students injured. The shooting happened in the city of Medianeira in the state of Parana.

In a statement, the state’s secretary of education had said that the shooter and another teen who was with him had been taken into custody. One student was shot in the back and another had suffered injuries to a knee.

Another school shooting took place in 2011 which left at least 12 children dead by a student in Rio de Janeiro.
