France hits jackpot: In a major energy boost for the energy needs of France, the European superpower and India’s ally has uncovered vast deposits of natural hydrogen, one of the cleanest fuels in nature. The recent discovery of natural hydrogen could be the biggest of its kind till today, impacting the global energy race for the fuel of the future. Here are all the details you need to know about France’s recent discovery of white hydrogen.
In the recent turn of events, it has been reported that the total amount of this natural hydrogen reserve is 46 million tonnes, estimated to be valued at around USD 92 trillion.
The French state-owned publicly funded international news television network, France 24, “Hydrogen usually comes from fossil fuels, in the form of methane gas or water. Extracting it requires breaking chemical bonds apart using electricity.”
White hydrogen is a naturally produced in the Earth’s crust, considered a potential clean energy. In a point of difference from other forms of hydrogen, the much-talked about white hydrogen only produces water when it is burned, making it an exceptionally clean energy source with enormous potential, as per a report by NDTV.
Researchers from the Georesources Laboratory and CNRS have made a significant discovery of a hydrogen reserve. The find was entirely unexpected, as scientists were originally searching for a methane deposit. Instead, they uncovered a vast natural hydrogen reserve located 1,250 meters underground.
Additionally, it has been named ‘white’ since the “production doesn’t generate greenhouse gases, leading to global warming.
Iran has rejected French President Emmanuel Macron’s remarks that Russia has used Iranian military equipment against Ukraine.
The repetition of “such baseless and incorrect” accusations by French officials was irresponsible and indicated “their lack of seriousness in restoring peace and stability in Europe and the world,” said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei in a statement.
In an address to his nation on Wednesday, Macron said, “Russia has already turned the Ukraine conflict into a global conflict,” and claimed that it has used Iranian equipment.
