Paris, May 7: After two rounds of voting in the French Presidential Elections, the early trends will start emerging from midnight. The elections were followed by months of campaigning by the parties of all political hues ranging Left to Far right. However, the counting of first round of voting showed former banker Emmanuel Macron locking horns with Far Right candidate Marine Le Pen. While the Macron secured a lead of two percent votes by garnering 23.75 percent votes, Marine Le Pen had secured 21.5 percent votes. After trailing from the novice player in the elections, Marine Le Pen appeared to have hardened her stand on issues of nationalism and immigration. Meanwhile, the French Election Commission announced that about 65.3 percent electorate voted till 5 P.M which is less in comparison with the voting on April 23.
The result of the presidential elections may severally affect the fate of the European Union and its efforts in combating a situation equivalent depression.
Marine Le Pen and Emmanuel Macron are not only presenting different set of policies but also represents two different ideologies. While the Emanuel Macron is believed to the Pro-European Union, Pro-centrist policies, Marine Le Pen have been advocating the secession of France from the European Union. Pen is also emphasising on the stringent rules for Immigration to the country. The Europe witnessed a flow of immigrants from the war-stricken Middle East including Syria and Yemen.
Similarly, Pen have been advocating for the reintroduction of French currency Frank instead of Euro. Marine Le Pen gained notoriety when she announced that the people of France must draw inspiration from the example of the United States of America where people have voted for their nation and chosen President Donald Trump.
The election will also the future course of action in forwarding the legacy of present president Francois Hollande. Hollande was acclaimed for legalising same-sex marriage along with introducing “millionaires tax” on the companies who have been paying their employees a salary of more than one million Euros. Similarly, he is credited with bringing the unemployment rate down. However, he was criticised for his two reforms meant to bring down the rate of unemployment in France.
His first reform also known as “Emmanuel reform” named after former economy minister and present presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron allowed some business to open on Sundays as well. Second round of reform passed by decree enabled businesses and workers to negotiate working hours and wages. However, people too alleged that he failed to deliver his promise of putting money into the pockets of ordinary people despite being a socialist President.
Will France take the trajectory chosen by the United States of America by embracing the formula of protectionism and hardcore nationalism putting “France First” or carry forward the legacy of liberal values including liberty, equality and fraternity?

As per latest details, President-Elect Emmanuel Macron has secured victory by garnering 62.89 percent votes whereas her rival Marine Le Pen could get only 37.11percent votes.
