New Delhi: A group of 41 migrants were reportedly found alive in a refrigerated truck in Greece, police were quoted by news agency AFP as saying on Monday. The driver of the truck, who hails from Georgia, was arrested earlier in the day.
While the nationality of the migrants is not known, a report claimed that they may be of Afghan origin. Most of them were in a good condition when rescued, stated a report. Upon rescuing the migrants, police admitted seven of them to a hospital for first aid.
A police source, as quoted by news agency AFP said, “The truck contained men and boys. Identifying their nationality will require a couple of days.” The police waylaid the truck on the Egnatia motorway that is located between Xanthi and Komotini in Greece, added the report.
