Most parts of Makkah and Madinah, Jeddah city and other areas of the governorate, received heavy rains accompanied by hailstorms and thunderstorms.

The floods that followed the rains have caused a lot of damage. According to media reports, the rain may continue on Wednesday, January 8 as well. Pictures going viral on social media showed the cities partially submerged.
Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia are very sacred pilgrimage sites for Muslims across the world. Every year millions of Muslims from all over the world come to these cities to perform Hajj and Umrah. But these days, heavy rains have changed the atmosphere of the whole of Saudi. Many Saudi cities have been submerged due to heavy rains. A warning has been issued that the same weather condition will continue.
The National Meteorological Centre (NMC) has forecast moderate to heavy rain, thunderstorms and dust storms for this week. Several yellow weather warnings have been issued.
The areas most affected by this rain are AlUla and Al-Madina. One of the most sacred places for Muslims in Al-Madina is Masjid-e-Nabawi was also flooded by the rains. The video of the site is going viral. In the video, the inside of the mosque is seen filled with water.
Movement is prohibited in many places in the states and schools have also been closed.
The administration has issued a warning advising people to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. Emergency services are ready to respond to any eventuality. The government is working hard to control the situation and ensure the safety of citizens. At the same time, weather experts predict that this situation will continue for a few more days. They are appealing to the people to be vigilant and follow official advice. The focus is on ensuring safety and minimizing the impact of adverse weather events.
