Tel Aviv: The deputy commander of Hamas’s Sheikh Radwan Battalion was neutralised last week, informed Israel Defence Forces on Saturday. Salah al-Din Zaara was killed in an airstrike in the Gaza Strip on July 24. The IDF stated that Salah a-Din Zaara, who served as the deputy commander of the Hamas Gaza City Brigade, earlier led the battalion’s combat support company, the Times of Israel reported.
Zaara was the mastermind of several attacks against Israel and Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip. He was in the hit list of the IDF.
Meanwhile, the Israel Air Force conducted airstrikes on more than 130 terror targets in Gazam, IDF said.
The attacks occur while four divisions of the IDF are engaged in ground operations throughout Gaza.
Meanwhile, Hamas stated that it would not disarm or give up its weapons while Israel’s ‘occupation’ continues. The extreme outfit also denied US envoy Steve Witkoff’s reported claim and criticised him for visiting a Gaza aid site backed by the US and Israel.
The outfit issued a statement, asserting that international law supports its right to do so until the “national rights” of Palestinians are achieved. “Foremost among them… the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with full sovereignty and Jerusalem as its capital,” it said.
Hamas also criticised Witkoff’s visit to the GHF, pointing to growing hunger in Gaza and reports that hundreds of Palestinians have died while trying to get aid from the group’s four distribution sites in the south and center of the region since mid-May.
“The American administration is a full partner in the crime of starvation and genocide,” said Hamas.
On Witkoff’s visit, it stated that the visit was “nothing more than a pre-arranged theatrical performance” to provide Tel Aviv with “political cover for managing starvation and continuing the systematic killing of children and unarmed civilians from our people.”
