Hamas-Israel War: Hamas is ready to reach a ceasefire deal in the embattled Gaza Strip with Israel if a proposal is presented and the Jewish nation respects the terms in the proposal. Bassem Naim, a Hamas political bureau member based in Qatari capital Doha, said the Palestinian militant was willing to reach a ceasefire, and urged US President-elect Donald Trump to “pressure” Israel to end its brutal military campaign in the Gaza Strip.
“Hamas is ready to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip if a proposal is presented and on the condition that the proposal is respected by Israel. We also call on the US administration and Donald Trump to pressure the Israeli government to end the aggression,” AFP quoted Naim as saying.
The Hamas leader’s statement comes days after Qatar announced it was “suspending” its role as a mediator towards a ceasefire until both sides, Hamas and Israel, showed “willingness and seriousness” to end the raging conflict. “Qatar would resume those efforts…when the parties show their willingness and seriousness,” Qatar’s foreign ministry spokesperson, Majed Al Ansari, had said in a statement.

According to the Israeli Army, 34 of the 97 hostages are dead, while the rest are being held in Hamas strongholds in the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, Israel’s brutal military offensive has so far killed 43,764 Palestinians in Gaza, including at least 20,000 children, according to humanitarian groups, who have dubbed it as a “genocide”, and called upon world nations to help end the “Israeli atrocities” against civilians in the battle-torn enclave.
