US-Iran Ceasefire: After the temporary ceasefire deal between Iran and the United States, the Islamic Republic launched a fresh warning to Israel. The warning comes after the attack by Israel on Lebanon, hours after Iran and the US reached a ceasefire deal. The latest warning comes from the Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian, who mentioned that Iran will never abandon the people of Lebanon.
Israel attacks Lebanon
Israel had conducted its heaviest strikes on Lebanon, which killed over 250 individuals on Wednesday. The strikes resulted in people getting buried under the debris after the interceptions. The attack was carried out in the southern suburbs of Beirut, southern Lebanon and the eastern Bekaa Valley. Israel had struck the Hezbollah command centres and military regions in 10 minutes in its largest air strikes of the conflict. The shocking part is that in Beirut alone, almost 91 people were killed.
Iran-US Ceasefire deal
The two countries had reached a temporary ceasefire deal just hours before the deadline set by US President Donald Trump. He had constantly urged the country to open the Strait of Hormuz, an important oil transit route globally, as almost 20 per cent of crude oil passes through this region.
However, after the Israeli attack on Lebanon, the passage was closed again by Iran, as per reports.
Iran's warning to Israel
"The repeated aggression by the Zionist entity against Lebanon is a flagrant violation of the initial ceasefire agreement and a dangerous indicator of deceit and lack of commitment to potential accords. The continuation of these aggressions will render negotiations meaningless; our hands will remain on the trigger, and Iran will never abandon its Lebanese brothers and sisters," wrote the Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Tensions in West Asia
The tensions in West Asia began on February 28 when the United States and Israel launched an attack on Iran, leading to the death of their supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Later, Mojtaba Khamenei was declared the new supreme leader of the Islamic Republic.
The temporary ceasefire deal was reached between the countries on April 7. After Israel attacked Lebanon, Iran issued a statement showing its firm support for the Lebanese people, as the president, Masoud Pezeshkian, wrote, "Iran will never abandon its Lebanese brothers and sisters."
