How Majeed Brigade, Fateh Squad, STOS… three wings of Baloch Liberation Army that hijacked train in Pakistan is big danger for Islamabad

Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) is an organization of Balochistan of Pakistan, whose aim is to separate Balochistan from Pakistan.

On Tuesday (March 11), the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) hijacked a train in Pakistan’s Bolan district. Since then, there has been a lot of bloodshed. Many Pakistani army personnel and BLA fighters have been killed. Jaffar Express was hijacked when it was passing through Mashkaf and Dhadar areas. BLA claims that more than 180 people have been held hostage in the train, most of whom are Pakistani army personnel.

BLA has said that this hijack operation was carried out by its fidayeen unit, Majeed Brigade. BLA says that Fateh Squad, STOS and its intelligence wing Zirab had helped Majeed Brigade.

What is Balochistan Liberation Army?

Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) is an organization of Balochistan of Pakistan, whose aim is to separate Balochistan from Pakistan. This organization was born to take revenge against the atrocities committed by the Pakistani army in Balochistan. BLA was born in the early 2000s. Later the government of Pakistan declared it a terrorist organization.

The military wing within the BLA is called Majeed Brigade. This wing carries out most of its operations through fidayeen attacks, that is, suicide bombers blow themselves up. These suicide bombers include fighters of the Fateh Squad. They are known for guerrilla attacks. The Pakistan government has banned the BLA and some of Pakistan’s allied countries have also declared it a terrorist organization.

The Balochistan Liberation Army’s operations are highly organised. The Majeed Brigade, Fateh Squad, and Special Tactical Operations Squad (STOS) carry out joint attacks.

How dangerous is the Majeed Brigade?

The Majeed Brigade was established in 2011 inside the Balochistan Liberation Army, which is a military wing. Its fighters are considered to be experts in carrying out suicide attacks. They call their attacks self-sacrifice for the independence of Balochistan. The Majeed Brigade is named after Baloch freedom fighter Abdul Majeed Baloch, who tried to assassinate former Pakistan Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in 1974. This brigade has carried out several major attacks, including the attack targeting Shafiq Mengal in December 2011, in which 14 people were killed and 35 were injured. The Majeed Brigade attacked the Karachi-based Chinese Consulate in November 2018.

All about Fateh Squad

The main job of Fateh Squad is to carry out operations in the mountainous areas of Balochistan. It works in the mountainous areas of Balochistan. In these areas, it conducts guerrilla operations against the Pakistani army. It ambushes and attacks Pakistani army convoys and camps. Last year, Fateh Squad killed 62 Pakistani soldiers by setting up 14 blockades on the main roads of Balochistan in Operation Herof.

What is Special Tactical Operations Squad (STOS)?

STOS is the most dangerous force of BLA. Its job is to carry out intelligence operations. It gathers intelligence, spies and specializes in high profile murders. STOS is currently commanded by Bashir Zeb Baloch. STOS has tracked down and killed Pakistani army officers and many of their local collaborators. Its most important task is to thwart the operations of the Pakistani army in Balochistan.
