New Delhi: During the India-Pakistan face-off, Turkey and China openly supported Islamabad by helping it by sending weapons. But even after getting external help, Pakistan tasted defeat, even though it is not accepting it. Due to this, there is a demand for the boycott of Turkey among the people of India. The Indian government too has taken action against some Turkish companies. However, there are some Indian companies working in Turkey who have stated that the tension between the two countries has not affected their business, and they currently have no intention of changing their plans in the Middle Eastern country.
According to a report by Business Standard, Jubilant Foodworks, the company that operates Domino’s Pizza and its coffee chain, Coffee, stated that it will continue its operations in Turkey and is also considering some expansion in the country.
Jubilant Foodworks currently operates 746 Domino’s outlets and 160 coffee stores in the Middle Eastern country and is planning to open 30 more Domino’s and Coffee outlets there.
As per the report, Redington has the highest sales among Indian companies working in Turkey. Its sales turnover stood at Rs 4,372.37 crore in 2023-24.
On the similar note, Mahindra & Mahindra, which manufactures agricultural equipment, has a tractor manufacturing unit in Turkey. Its sales stood at Rs 1,420.78 crore in the financial year 2023-24. Another prominent compan,y Dabur India acquired a company there in 2010, stating that it neither imports from India nor exports to India. Even TaTa Group’s Voltas has formed a joint venture there. It states that the business is unaffected by any geopolitical tension.
In the 2023-24 fiscal year, Indian companies Solar Industries, UPL, and HCL Technologies reported sales of Rs 753.28 crore, Rs 469 crore, and Rs31.73 crore, respectively, in Turkey. Conversely, Turkish businesses are encountering difficulties in India, evidenced by the recent shortening of a Turkish aircraft’s lease with IndiGo and the revocation of Celebi Aviation Holding’s security clearance for ground handling services.
