Indonesia, June 17: It turned out to be a nightmare for villagers in Indonesia after they discovered that a local woman who disappeared after she went to check her vegetable patch was inside the belly of a 23-foot long python. 54-year-old Wa Tiba was found villagers after they cut open the 23-foot long giant reptile. The horrifying incident took place on Friday, June 15, in the village of Persiapan Lawela on the island of Muna, offshore of Sulawesi.

Tiba went missing after she went to check upon her vegetable patch on the night of June 14. It was only after her sandals, machete and torch was found near the vegetable patch that it was suspected Tiba being eaten by a python. Villagers thereafter launched a massive search only to find a bulging python nearby and hence it was confirmed that the woman had been swallowed by the giant snake. The villagers cut open the snake to take out Tiba who had succumbed till then. Local police chief Hmaka confirmed the same and said,”Residents were suspicious the snake swallowed the victim, so they killed it, then carried it out of the garden. The snake’s belly was cut open and the body of the victim was found inside.” (Also Read: Texas Man Nearly Dies After Bitten by Decapitated Rattlesnake)

This is the second incident to take place within an year’s time. In a similar incident, last year in March, a farmer was killed by a python in the village of Salubiro on Sulawesi island. The place where Tiba disappeared is home to these giant snakes. 6-metre long snakes are usually found in Indonesia and the Philippines.
