London, Mar 23: Terror outfit Islamic State, also known as ISIS, has claimed the responsibility for the deadly attack on UK Parliament in London. The ISIS said its ‘soldier’ carried out terror attack on the iconic Westminster Bridge near the UK Parliament. The terror outfit, in its statement published in Amaq agency, said a “soldier of the Islamic State” had carried out the atrocity by the Houses of Parliament. It said the attacker was following their order of taking revenge of bombings in Syria and Iraq.

As per the statement of the ISIS, the terror group is not directly involved in the attack on UK Parliament. The statement said the assailant was following a call made by the group to unleash attack on non-combatants and security forces in countries allied to the US-led coalition that launched airstrikes in Syria and Iraq.

A day after a terror attack in the heart of London left four people dead, police on Thursday identified the lone attacker as a British-born and said eight suspects had been arrested. Seven of the persons wounded in the Wednesday attack near Parliament were in critical condition, authorities said. Twenty-nine were discharged from hospitals.

British Prime Minister Theresa May, addressing the UK Parliament, said the attack was inspired by the ‘Islamist’ ideology and the attacker was known to investigative agencies. “What I can confirm is that the man was British born and that – some years ago – he was once investigated in relation to concerns about violent extremism. He was a peripheral figure,” said Theresa May.
