Civilian flight traffic over Iran was rerouted on Saturday after Israel carried out airstrikes across the Middle Eastern country.

Tehran Shuts Airspace: Israel on Saturday carried out a major daylight attack targeting different parts of Iran, including its capital Tehran. Plumes of smoke were seen rising from several parts of the city. The Israel Defence Forces carried out drone and airstrikes amid the Middle Eastern country's escalating tensions with the United States over its nuclear program. Several reports suggest that the airstrike occurred near offices associated with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Civilian flight traffic over Iran was immediately rerouted following the airstrikes. The Iranian government had shut its airspace after the airstrikes, which were launched by Israel and the United States in several cities.

Military Escalation Derails Diplomatic Efforts Between Washington And Tehran

It is to be noted that the airstrikes have pushed the West Asian region into another military conflict. This has also blurred hopes of bilateral talks between US and Iran over the nuclear program. Washington has demanded permanent guarantees that the Middle East country will not enrich its uranium to the point that it can be used in nuclear weapons.

However, Tehran has consistently cleared its stand that its nuclear program is not for making weapons. The country also stated that it is ready to discuss curbs in exchange for lifting of sanctions.

Both Tehran and Washington held multiple talks in February over the middle east country's nuclear program but failed to arrive at an understanding.

As per the latest reports, several explosions were heard in Iran's capital. Iran has confirmed the attack and shut its airspace down. The strikes came after tensions between Iran and the United States over Tehran's nuclear program had escalated.

"Proactive alert to prepare the public for the possibility of missiles being launched toward the state of Israel," the Israeli military said.

US Confirms Involvement

It is worth mentioning that the advisory came after Tel Aviv launched a pre-emptive military strike against Iran today. President Donald Trump also confirmed that US forces are also involved in the strikes.

"The objective to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats," Trump said.

According to reports, Israel targeted Iran's military, government and intelligence structures. Israel also closed its airspace after it attacked Iran. "proactive alert to prepare the public for the possibility of missiles being launched toward the state of Israel," the Israeli military reportedly said.
