Kabul, June 20: At least 22 people have been killed and injured in a suicide attack, which took place early on Monday morning here. Taliban has taken responsibility for the attack on a minibus which was carrying government employees to their offices in the city, reported Reuters. This comes after chief of Taliban, Mullah Akhtar Mansour, was killed in a US lead drone attack last month. There have been several terror attacks on Afghanistan since then and the recent one just goes on to show the security crisis that the country is facing, after Mansour’s death.
Several ambulances and police emergency vehicles reached the site of the explosion after the attack and the rescue work to extract people from the mangled vehicle, is still going on. According to RT, up to 14 people have been reportedly died in the blast, while dozens others have been injured in the explosion that hit the vehicle on the main road to the eastern city of Jalalabad. This is the first attack in the country, ever since the Holy month of Ramadan began on June 6. Last month, a bus carrying Justice Ministry staff had been similarly targeted in a deadly suicide attack that took place near Kabul. In a separate attack, the central city of Ghazni was also targeted on June 1. According to a Tribune report, the vehicle was attacked by a suicide bomber, who was on foot.
