Kamala Harris takes dig at Trump’s economic record, calls him ‘biggest loser’ for manufacturing jobs in America
Harris highlighted that Trump was the one to bring back America’s manufacturing jobs and accused that around 2,00,000 manufacturing jobs were lost during his presidency before the pandemic.
Wisconsin: Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump both intensified their campaigns in Wisconsin, a key swing state. During her campaign speech, Harris criticized Trump’s record on the economy, especially with manufacturing jobs. She claimed that around 200,000 manufacturing jobs were lost under Trump’s presidency before the COVID-19 pandemic, with thousands of those job losses happening in Wisconsin. She called Trump “one of the biggest losers of manufacturing jobs in American history.”
Harris said, “Trump promised he was the only one who could bring back America’s manufacturing jobs. But America lost nearly 200,000 manufacturing jobs when Trump was president, including thousands of jobs right here in Wisconsin. And just to be clear, these losses began before the pandemic.”
She continued by criticizing Trump’s handling of the auto industry and calling it a “disaster”, pointing out that six auto plants were closed during his presidency, despite his assurance that none would close. She said, “As president, he promised that the auto industry would not lose one plant during his presidency. And then America’s auto manufacturers announced the closure of six auto plants when he was President.”
Harris further highlighted Trump’s unfulfilled commitments to stop offshoring and claimed that his corporate tax cuts incentivized the offshoring of 200,000 American jobs. She pointed to the much-hyped Foxconn deal in Wisconsin, which was promised as a $10 billion investment that would create 13,000 jobs. “He called it the ‘8th wonder of the world.’ But it was just another empty promise,” Harris said. “All talk, no walk.”
