Kim Jong Un’s New Bizarre Ruling: When we talk about North Korea, the picture that comes to mind is of people who have been cut off from the world and are forced to live under the government’s strict rules. Well, it is not completely wrong. North Korea, which is ruled by Kim Jong Un, is infamous for its bizarre rules and regulations. From hairstyles to the possession of vehicles, the country has several unusual rules. In the latest bizarre announcement, Kim Jong Un has banned words like ice cream, hamburger, and karaoke. The reason of banning these common words are these words are too “Western”, according to Kim Jong Un and should not be used in the country. So the question arise what words will the people of North Korea use instead of the banned words. The North Korean leader has given his owned terminology.
According to a report by Daily NK, the tour guides of the country are advised not to use the banned English words as they are widely used in western countries including South Korea. The report states that tour guides are being strictly trained to adopt the local North Korean terminology.

• Tour guides are being trained to avoid banned English words and using North Korean vocabulary.
• The replacements are: Hamburger – Dahin-Gogi Gyeopppang (double bread with ground beef), Ice Cream – Eseukimo, Karaoke Machine – On-screen accompaniment machine.
• Past reports revealed people were executed for watching foreign films or secretly keeping South Korean dramas.
As per Kim Jong Un-led government, the changes have been made to promote ‘North Korean vocabulary’ and prevent cultural infiltration.
Notably, this is not the first time that North Korea’s strange and weird rules have caught everyone’s attention and made headlines across the world. A recent report revealed that several people were sentenced to death for watching foreign films and TV shows.
A woman, who fled the country in 2023, stated that her friends were publicly killed just for keeping South Korean dramas.
