‘Land Of Opportunities’: Elon Musk Shares Data Showing Indian-Americans Have Highest Median Household Income In US

Elon Musk has taken to his social media handle on X to highlight the success of immigrants in the United States. He shared a statistic showcasing the median household income of various ethnic groups that have migrated to the US, emphasizing that “America really is the land of opportunities”. The infographic, based on data from the US Census Bureau, focused on Asian immigrant groups. It revealed that Indian Americans lead with a median annual household income of USD119,858, followed by Taiwanese at USD95,736, Chinese at USD81,487, and Japanese Americans. Pakistani Americans also performed well, with a median household income of USD77,315, ranking fifth on the list.

The data set titled ‘Median US Household Income By Selected Ethnic Groups, 2018’, originally posted by social media platform X user ‘The Rabbit Hole’ included median household incomes of Filipino, Korean, Cambodian, Hmong, and Vietnamese Americans, all of whom surpassed the median household income of White Americans, which stands at USD65,902.

In 2022, the gross median household income for Asian households in the US was USD108,700, reflecting the financial prosperity of this demographic group.

According to a report by The Diplomat, nearly five million people of Indian origin reside in the US, many of whom are first or second-generation immigrants.
