Malaysia Airlines Flight MH198 was on its way to Hyderabad when it was diverted back to Kuala Lumpur after the crew reported unspecified emergency situation on-board. The non-stop Boeing 737-800 flight had taken off from Kuala Lumpur. However, soon after the take off the crew reported some problem in one of the on-board computers. The flight was scheduled to land at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad at 2355 hrs.

The flight was over Malacca Straits when the Air Traffic Control asked it to return. The Boeing burnt fuel for quite sometime before it landed at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang under emergency conditions.

MH198 is an international Malaysia Airline daily flight between Kuala Lumpur and Hyderabad. The flight covers a distance of 1870 miles or 3010 km in 4.05 to 4.10 hours.

The revised schedule of the flight to be implemented from next month will see it leaving at 2225 hrs from Kuala Lumpur and reaching Hyderabad at 0005 hrs the next day.

This is the third time this year that Malaysian Airlines flight was involved in a freak incident. Earlier this year Malaysian Airlines flight MH-370 went missing with passengers on board. Later in July another Malaysian Airline flight MH17 was shot over down over eastern Ukraine, killing all 298 people on board.
