New York, July 1: A man wearing doctor’s coat on Friday afternoon visited a New York City hospital and shot multiple people there. Some reports suggest that the police officials who are present at the spot are responding to what’s being called an active shooter situation. According to NBC report, the gunman entered at Bronx Lebanon Hospital and was wearing a white laboratory coat when he shot at least three people before 3 pm local time. Member’s of New York’s Police Department (NYPD) and other armed units are responding at the spot, and police could be seen surrounding the area. A staff member quoted by News 4 said that the hospital is under lockdown as police are evacuating the people present inside floor by floor. A scene taken from the chopped shows a number of NYPD vehicles gridlock the streets around the hospital. The cops said that they are handling the situation and have gotten a report of a smoke condition on the 16th floor of the hospital. They are on standby and not inside the hospital yet. The Bronx-Lebanon Hospital is known as the largest non-profit health care system in the south and the central Bronx. The hospital is around 120-year-old and claims that there are nearly 1,000 beds spread across multiple units. Its emergency room is among the busiest in New York City.
