NAPERVILLE – You may count him down as just another schoolboy but 11-year-old Aayush Desai is not a fifth-grader to be sneezed at.
The brainy student of Indian Prairie District 204’s White Eagle Elementary School in Naperville has set the DuPage River on fire by winning the second place in the SIFMA Foundation’s InvestWrite essay competition with McGraw Hill Financial.
The competition open to students in grades 4-12 asked them to analyze an investment scenario and recommend portfolio allocations targeting short- and long-term financial goals.
Bright spark Aayush took up the gauntlet and scored the bull’s eye by coming out with a long-term investment strategy for an overloaded piggy bank.
Aayush, one of 20,000 students who take the InvestWrite challenge each year, and his teacher Kerry DiFusco were recognized at an event at his school on Feb. 23.
