Human rights groups in Argentina have now demanded the arrest of Netanyahu the moment he arrives in the country. According to the reports, they have also filed a criminal complaint in Argentina’s federal court regarding this demand. Netanyahu is likely to visit Argentina in September. However, it is important to note that there has been no official confirmation regarding the visit.
Demand for investigation into the March 23 incident
The criminal complaint filed in Argentina’s federal court calls for Netanyahu’s arrest and an investigation into Israeli political and military officials over an incident that occurred on March 23, in which 15 people were killed.
Netanyahu likely to visit Argentina in September
Israeli PM Netanyahu is likely to visit Argentina in September, however, the government officials are yet to issue any statement regarding the visit. On Friday, Argentine daily Clarin reported that Netanyahu might seek a meeting with President Javier Milei during his visit to New York for the United Nations General Assembly at the end of September.
What the petition filed in court stated
Argentine human rights lawyer Rodolfo Yanzon and Raji Sourani, director of the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, said in their petition, “It is understood that Netanyahu is criminally responsible as a co-perpetrator of crimes against humanity, such as war crimes involving deliberate starvation, murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts.”

To recall, in early August, Argentina’s federal courts had already received an arrest warrant request for Netanyahu filed by the Association of State Workers (ATE) and the human rights group HIJOS.
