New York, March 12: Two people died on Sunday night when a helicopter crashed in New York’s East River. One person was rescued alive. The video of the accident was recorded by an eye-witness. Coast Guard said total five people were recovered from the air craft–it is not clear whether the dead are among those five.
“Five people have been recovered by New York City Police Department and the New York City Fire Department divers and their conditions are currently unknown,” the statement said.
The video shows the helicopter splashed in the river. The aircraft didn’t sink and was secured. Reports said that the Federal Aviation Administration informed that a Eurocopter AS350 went down in the river near Roosevelt Island at 7 p.m. The National Transportation Safety Board would determine the cause of the accident.
