No Relief to Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan Supreme Court Upholds His Dismissal in Panama Papers Case

Islamabad, Sep 15: The Supreme Court of Pakitan on Friday dismissed all the review petitions filed by ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family against the apex court’s ruling in Panama Papers case. The apex court also upheld Sharif’s dismissal, as reported by a Pakistani daily. “All review petitions stand dismissed,” Justice Khosa announced, The Dawn reported. The court also observed that the reasons for the rejection of petitions will be recorded later.
A bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa rejected the arguments of senior counsel Khawaja Haris Ahmed, who represented Nawaz Sharif, that the judgment was raised on the grounds which were not raised by the petitioners. Other members of the bench included Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan. Pakistan Supreme Court also dismissed another petition filed by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar against Panama Papers. The Supreme Court also asked National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to file corruption charges against Nawaz Sharif’s family.
