“In consideration of the circumstances surrounding his death, and after examination of the body and toxicology analysis, it is my opinion that the death of Omar Mir Seddique Mateen, a 29-year-old while male, shot by law enforcement, is the result of multiple gunshot wounds,” Dr Joshua Stephany, the chief medical examiner, wrote in his report a day after the June 12 massacre at the Pulse nightclub. No drugs or alcohol were found in his body, but his urine had levels higher than typically found in a healthy person of a compound often associated with consuming a dietary supplement used for bodybuilding. The report also said his testosterone range was normal. The Orlando medical examiner’s office also released reports on more than two dozen of the victims and said more autopsy reports would be released next week.
