Pakistan Army Salary: The Pakistan Army is one of the largest standing armies in the world, boasting around 6,54,000 active military personnel, equipped with advanced weaponry and training, surpassed only by world’s most elite forces, such as India and China. But how much do Pakistan’s armed forces earn?
Like the rest of Pakistani government departments, the salaries of Pakistan army personnel are governed by what is known as the Basic Pay Scale (BPS) system, with the base salary determined by the BPS corresponding to each rank.
Entry entry-level officers in the Pakistani army received varied monthly salaries as per their respective rank and position. The salaries of Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) range from PKR 20,000 to PKR 40,000, falling into the BPS 7 category, and depend upon their specific role and years of service.
On the other hand, for Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs), which include Lance Naik and Naik ranks, salaries range between PKR 18,000 and PKR 30,000, falling into BPS 5 to BPS 6 category.
The mid-level officers in Pakistan Army, which include Army Captains and Army Majors, fall in the BPS 17 and BPS 18 categories, with Captains earning between PKR 50,000 and PKR 90,000 per month, a Major rank officer receives a monthly salary ranging between PKR 60,000 to PKR 100,000.
Additionally, unlike entry-level officers, the mid-level personnel receive other allowances like housing, transportation, and utility, which significantly hikes their monthly income.
Understandably, the salaries of officers increase as they move up the ranks, with Colonels and Brigadiers making PKR 80,000 to PKR 150,000 per month under BPS 19 and BPS 20 categories, respectively, in addition to other compensation packages and allowances which supplement their income.
Apart from the high salary, senior-level officers also enjoy other perks such as furnished accommodations, dedicated transport, and enhanced medical facilities for their families.
General are perched at the top of the Pakistan Army’s hierarchy and as expected, receive a much bigger paycheck and other benefits compared to lower-ranked officials. Army Generals are ranked under BPS 21 and above categories, and receive salaries starting from PKR 200,000, which increases according to their position and years of services.
Additionally, the top-level officers also receive exclusive perks such as luxury accommodations, top-tier medical care, and exclusive access to army clubs and recreational facilities.
Akin to other armies in the world, the Pakistan Army also employs personnel in non-combat roles such as medical officers and engineers, who start at higher pay scales of BPS 18 to 19, owing to their specialized skills, and can earn between PKR 60,000 to PKR 120,000 per month.
Other specialized personnel, including support staff and IT specialists also earn a handsome salary based on the experience and specific field.
