Islamabad: In a stern message, the Pakistani Army has said that it is now going to change the “rules of the game.” The statement comes after Pakistan faced attacks from Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists and Baloch rebels. According to Pakistani analysts, the spokesperson of the Pakistani army has hinted that they would now carry out attacks inside Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, intense shelling continued for several days at the Torkham border along the Durand Line. The Taliban forces destroyed several Pakistani army posts along the border. Following this escalation, the Pakistan army-backed Shehbaz government seems to have realized the gravity of the situation. The Pakistani government has now announced that it will hold talks with the Taliban regarding the threat posed by the TTP.

On Monday, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar announced negotiations with the Taliban after a crucial meeting. The Pakistani leader stated that the issue of sheltering terrorists would be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue with the Taliban. In this meeting, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Ambassador Mahmood Sadiq, provided details of his recent visit to Kabul. It is believed that since the Taliban has not accepted Pakistan’s demands regarding the TTP, the Islamabad government is now making efforts to persuade them.

Pakistan Army bowed before the Taliban

The tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan over TTP terrorists have escalated over the last few months. Pakistan alleges that the terrorists carrying out attacks in its Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces have found refuge in Afghanistan. Interestingly, the statement issued by the Pakistani government regarding talks with the Taliban does not mention the issue of TTP or cross-border terrorism at all. It is believed that this is an attempt to appease the Taliban.

The tension between Pakistan and the Taliban has been so intense that the Torkham border remained closed for several days. Near this Afghan border, the Taliban had started constructing a military outpost, which the Pakistani army opposed. This led to heavy shelling from both sides for several days. Now, while the guns have fallen silent, the tension persists. The Taliban has continued building the outpost despite Pakistan’s opposition. As a result, the Pakistani army has finally had to relent and has sought a resolution through dialogue rather than guns.
