Treasure found in Church: A treasure has been discovered in a church in the European country of Lithuania that has been missing since the start of World War II. According to CNN, this extremely valuable treasure was found in the Vilnius Cathedral in Lithuania.

The treasure includes a crown of the King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania Alexander Jagiellon (1461-1506). In addition, several items were found including chains, medals, rings, a scepter, another crown, and coffin plaques.

Symbols associated with the coffins of kings

According to Vilnius Archbishop Gintaras Grušas, this treasure contains symbols associated with the coffins of the kings of Lithuania and Poland, which are symbols of the long tradition of the Lithuanian state.

There are also many precious jewels. These artefacts may have been placed inside the coffins when burying members of the royal family. This reflects the burial and honouring practices of that time.

Rita Pauliukevičiūtė, director of the Vilnius Church, said that this discovery and the symbols found in it hold special significance for the state and all of us, as it reflects the location of the Vilnius Cathedral as the cemetery of the elite of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. It also signifies the strength of our European identity and roots.

First discovered in 1931

The ancient items found in the treasure were first discovered in 1931 when the cathedral was being cleaned after the spring floods. This cleaning revealed a whole crypt filled with the remains of rulers. They were then displayed until 1939. However, due to World War II, they were hidden again, and have now been found by researchers.

Will be presented to the public again

With the help of endoscopic cameras, these artefacts were rediscovered last December, wrapped in newspapers from September 1939. After necessary examinations, they will once again be displayed to the public.
