Russia-Ukraine war: In a possible big business opportunity for Indian defence sector, the neigbouring countries of Russia including Poland, Slovenia and Estonia are increasing their defence budget and in the process, Indian defence industry might just benefit. As per a fresh report, Estonia is exploring if Indian companies can set up manufacturing lines in the country.
Indian companies that manufacture 155 mm ammunition are keen to put money into Estonia’s defense industry park. It’s worth noting that Estonia stands out as one of the few NATO countries that have continuously met the 2 percent guideline for defense spending. Here’s all the details you need to know about the possible big deal for Indian defence companies.
Speaking to WION’s Sidhant Sibal, Estonia’s Defence minister Hanno Pevku said, “It’s not only ammunition. It’s also the Armed Vehicles production, Howitzer production. So, the cooperation is very intense. So, I really do hope that I can find the time also to come to India”.
“I see that, in last year, specifically, we have had very good cooperation, and I see that there is a huge opportunity to increase that cooperation. And I know that, yes, there is a very successful cooperation already today. But what is more important that we are establishing here in Estonia, the new defense industry Park, and there are a couple of big Indian companies who are interested to come to invest in Estonia to start production of, for instance, the 155-millimeter ammunition”, he added.

And also less than a week ago, we had a bilateral meeting with Indian foreign minister in Bahrain, and we discussed the cooperation on cyber security, digitalisation”, Estonia’s Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said about India-Estonia relations.
